Prof. Dr. Yusuf Çalışkan is the managing partner of his legal boutique and he practices at the areas of international arbitration, dispute resolution and international trade & commercial law. Besides, Mr. Yayla is a senior consultant to Çukur & Partners Law Firm at these practices.
Mr. Çalışkan completed his L.L.B degree at Ankara University Faculty of Law and LL.M. degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Law with honors. He holds a Juris Scientiae Doctoris (JSD) degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. He completed his JSD dissertation on “The Development of International Investment Law: Lessons from the OECD MAI Negotiations and Their Application to a Possible Multilateral Agreement on Investment”.
Prof. Dr. Çalışkan is an experienced lawyer and one of the leading academics in the field of international private law and arbitration in Turkey and has lectured in this field at various universities in Turkey and abroad for many years and served as the dean of the Faculty of Law.
Yusuf Çalışkan practices in the fields of international and domestic arbitration, dispute resolution, international contracts, international investments, international trade and commercial law with his extensive international experience and in-depth knowledge.
Prof. Dr. Çalışkan is recognized one of the leading lawyers in Turkey at the area of arbitration and international dispute resolution, as he acts as counsel, attorney and arbitrator in wide range of international arbitrations for many years.
In addition, he takes active important roles in international organizations. Prof. Dr. Çalışkan has been elected as a member of the Governing Council of the Institute for the Unification of Private International Law (UNIDROIT) for the term 2019-2023. Moreover, the Republic of Turkey nominated him as the candidate for the World Trade Organization (WTO) Appellate Body Member in 2016. He was also a member of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) Panel of Conciliators and Arbitrators designated by Republic of Turkey.
He is a professor of Private International Law at Ibn Haldun University, where he lectures on Private International Law, International Investment Law, International Investment Arbitration, and International Commercial Law.
With his extensive international experience and outstanding knowledge, Professor Yusuf ÇALIŞKAN provides legal consultancy to private sector in particular in international arbitration, foreign direct investment, international commercial law, all aspects of private international law, and commercial law area. He also serves as an arbitrator and mediator in domestic and international disputes.
